Job Summary
Ausenco is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical analysis, design, reporting, and project delivery for mining-related infrastructure.
This role will work with multidisciplinary teams on projects involving tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, geotechnical investigations, civil design, and mine infrastructure across U.S. and international client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical analysis, design, and reporting for tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and other mine infrastructure
- Participate in geotechnical site investigation and laboratory testing programs
- Interpret site investigation and laboratory testing results to support design decisions
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project documentation
- Manage the preparation of design drawings and specifications from scoping studies through detailed design and construction phases
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support timely and successful project execution
- Support client needs and project milestones through high-quality technical deliverables
- Travel to client sites within the United States and internationally as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience
- Professional Engineer certification is considered a valuable asset
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field preferred
- Experience designing tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and related mine infrastructure
- Familiarity with international tailings management standards
- Expertise in dam stability analysis, water management, and civil design principles
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, GeoStudio or similar software
- Experience with advanced modeling tools such as PLAXIS or similar software
- Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
