Job Summary
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Diamond/Core Driller to safely and efficiently operate diamond drilling equipment to recover high-quality core samples for mineral exploration and geological evaluation.

This role requires precision drilling, strong mechanical skills, attention to core recovery quality, and strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards in remote or challenging field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate diamond/core drilling rigs according to company procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and ongoing checks of drill rigs, rods, core barrels, pumps, and support equipment
  • Set up drill sites, align rigs, and collar holes to specified angles, depths, and locations
  • Monitor drilling parameters including rotation speed, bit pressure, water flow, and penetration rates
  • Optimize core recovery and drilling equipment performance
  • Ensure proper core recovery, handling, and placement of core samples in trays
  • Identify changing ground conditions and communicate technical or geological issues to supervisors and geologists
  • Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs
  • Maintain accurate drilling records including meterage, core recovery, consumables usage, and daily reports
  • Support safe work practices for offsiders and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards at the drill site
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training programs
  • Respond appropriately to equipment failures, emergencies, and changing site conditions

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Diamond/Core Driller in mineral exploration or mining environments
  • Strong understanding of diamond drilling techniques and core recovery methods
  • Basic geology knowledge related to drilling and core recovery
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance
  • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Ability to work long shifts in remote or FIFO environments
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather and field conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with appropriate class
