Job Summary
Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Supervisor Mining Engineer to lead mine planning activities, support land management and permitting processes, and oversee engineering operations across multiple sites.
This role focuses on technical leadership, mine design, regulatory compliance, and optimizing resource recovery while managing and developing team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor engineering staff, providing performance feedback and development support
- Develop 3D mine plans, stripping schedules, and reserve estimates
- Support land management including acquisitions, permitting, zoning, and leasehold assets
- Analyze land use data including property lines, setbacks, and regulatory constraints
- Manage permitting processes and ensure compliance with operating permits
- Oversee consultant work related to permitting, land management, and engineering projects
- Maintain life-of-mine plans, maps, and reserve documentation
- Support legal and compliance activities related to land and property management
- Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and resource recovery
- Participate in cross-functional projects and public outreach efforts
Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field
– 5+ years of experience in mining engineering, geology, land management, or operations
- Experience supervising or mentoring engineering or technical teams
- Strong knowledge of mine planning, reserve estimation, and geologic concepts
- Understanding of permitting, land management, and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to create mine plans and interpret geologic and topographic data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MineSight, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, and Excel
- Familiarity with GIS tools such as ArcGIS
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- High level of integrity and ability to work independently and in teams
