Job Summary
Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Mining Engineer to support mine planning, reserve estimation, and long-term development across multiple sites.

This role focuses on mine design, data analysis, regulatory compliance, and optimizing resource recovery while supporting operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules using geological and operational data
  • Analyze land use, zoning, and regulatory constraints for mine planning
  • Maintain life-of-mine plans, maps, and reserve documentation
  • Monitor mine development and identify future operational challenges
  • Prepare reserve estimates, short-term and long-term mine plans, and reclamation plans
  • Support compliance with permits, regulations, and operational guidelines
  • Estimate stripping volumes and support bid package preparation
  • Participate in zoning processes, acquisitions, and special projects
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and resource recovery

Skills
– Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
– 5+ years of mining engineering, geology, or operations experience

  • Knowledge of mine planning, reserve estimation, and geologic concepts
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local mining regulations
  • Experience with surveying and land use analysis
  • Ability to create mine plans and interpret geologic and topographic data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in 3D-CAD, Excel, Carlson, and related software
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
